The one thing Kailen wanted to do this summer, besides go to Girls' Camp, Pioneer Trek, and EFY, was to go to Nashville. And not only go to Nashville, but also go to the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

So we tagged along with John a couple of weeks ago when he went to Nashville on business. We went to the Grand Ole Opry the first night, and it was awesome! There were 8 or 9 performers, and even though some of them are up-and-coming and we weren't familiar with them, it was great! We went into the Opryland Hotel first because Kailen hadn't been there since she was about 5 months old and for some reason she couldn't remember it. :)

Then we headed over to the Grand Ole Opry:

The next day, while John was in meetings, we hit the town. We went to Ivey Cake first, because Ivey is one of Carrie Underwood's BFFs and Ivy sells some amazing cupcakes!
We bought four delicious cupcakes: I Do (which was served at Carrie's wedding), Break Up, BFF, and Cheat Day. We ate them that night in our hotel and they were yummy!

Then we went to the Country Music Hall of Fame:

There was an exhibit from Carrie Underwood's Blown Away tour at the museum. It was so cool!

Then we walked through downtown Nashville. There were lots of fun shops!
We met up with John and ate dinner at the Wildhorse Saloon. It was a yummy place to eat, and we had fun watching the line dancing.
I flew from Nashville to Denver early the next morning to spend Kam's birthday weekend with her (upcoming post), and John and Kailen headed home.

It was a great trip, and it was fun to get away for a few days and spend some time together.

And I got to add Nashville, Tennessee, to the list of places I've run. :)
