Pioneer Trek

Two days after we got back from Virginia (trip #2), John, Kailen, and I left for Pioneer Trek. This was the fourth trek John and I went on, and Kailen's first. John was one of the three company captains, so he was on the trail with the handcart families. I helped the nurse and with whatever was needed. It was fun to be there with Kailen--we've been blessed to be on trek with all of our kids. We were a Ma & Pa when Zach and Kam went on trek, and we helped in back-up camp for Parker's.

The girls in our ward before we left for trek.
 The boys.
Everyone. What a fun group!

Trek, for me is a fun--but--hard thing. It was hot and humid, but thankfully it only rained a little bit. My favorite thing about this trek was that Elder Devon Cornish, of the First Quorum of the Seventy, came up the second day, walked along with the kids on the trial, and then spoke to all of us that night. It was amazing to have a General Authority with us and to hear him speak. It was fun to watch the kids as he was speaking--they were really taking it all in. His daughter lives in our stake, and he just happened to be visiting her and her family. What a blessing!

John and I have retired from Pioneer Treks. We think four is a good number. :)

Watch a couple of videos and view pictures from trek here.
