Kailen's first date. And why do kids have to grow up so fast?

So...I'm way behind on my blogging.

I've spent the past two weeks at girls camp, in Virginia visiting Kam, and at our stake's Pioneer Trek.

And the few weeks before that getting prepared for all three, and getting writing assignments done, and some projects done for John, so that I could basically be gone for two weeks.

It's been a crazy few weeks.

But now I'm home for awhile.

I hope.

Anyway.

I realized I never posted about my baby's first date!

Back in May Kailen went to our Mormon Prom with her very good friend (like a brother, friend), Joel.  We only had about 1 1/2 weeks to find a modest dress, which is pretty much a very difficult task. Thankfully, I didn't have to sew much, just a hem, a sash, and Joel's bow tie. All totally doable. Joel's mom made their flowers - which turned out so pretty!

Aren't they cute?

The group of kids going from our ward ate dinner at my friend Anne's house, and John and I went and helped serve them. And we got some of the leftovers, which were totally yummy. :)

Luckily, Anne and her husband watched the weather report and put up these canopies. Because it poured rain. I mean, p-o-u-r-e-d.

But the kids were really good sports about the whole thing.

They all had a great time at the dance, and it was so fun to be a part of Kailen's first date!
