Family Graduation
Susan Kelley, a recent BYU-Idaho graduate, completed her online courses and walked with her son, daughter and daughter-in-law in the April 2013 graduation ceremonies. She and her family are currently in the Lilburn stake in Georgia.
Susan graduated with a Bachelor's of University Studies degree. She completed her degree through online learning and says it was an amazing experience. “This resource is an untapped one that I’m not sure many previous students are aware of.” When Susan realized she could graduate with her children, she went from taking 2 classes a semester to 4 and 3 classes the last two semesters.
From her experience, she said she loved online learning because she was able to attend a church school while living in Arizona and now in Georgia. “I love that the gospel is integrated into every subject, and that I can feel the Spirit of Ricks long distance,” Kelley says. She was also able to keep up on family and home responsibilities while attending school.
“My teachers were extremely helpful and I could tell they are passionate about teaching." According to Susan, she was able to interact with students from varying ages, backgrounds, and experiences through the online learning model. Susan is excited about the future of BYU-I’s online learning department and knows how much it will bless the lives of students all over the world for years to come.
As a dual alumni (having attended Ricks as well as BYU-I), Susan is passionate about this institution and often encourages the youth she works with to add BYU-I to the list of potential colleges. Her husband as well as all of her children have attended BYU-I and the youngest plans to attend in 2015. They consider themselves a “BYU-I Family.”
It was published in the BYU-Idaho Alumni publication, Connect, and I did not know anything about it until I saw it on facebook.
What a nice surprise!
So now that it's posted on my blog, it will also be published in my annual blog book.
And that makes it family history. :o)
