Wednesday, March 13, 2013, was the day Parker entered the MTC (Missionary Training Center), and the day he began his two-year mission for our church-The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The day started very early, and we left Janine's house at 6:00 a.m. to drive to Provo.
We wanted to Parker to have an awesome "last meal," so we took him to Tucanos. If you're not familiar with Tucanos, it's a Brazilian Buffet. They have a huge salad/soup bar, and then they bring skewers of meat and grilled fruits and vegetables around to your table and you can pick what you want to eat. He loved it!
Since Tucanos was pretty close to the MTC, there were several MTC-entering missionaries there with us. The really cool thing is that when they brought us our check our, our missionary was free!
Now for the onslaught of just-about-to-drop-our-boy-off-at-the-MTC pictures. It was a beautiful day, and we took pictures at the park across the street from the MTC.
You can see part of the MTC in the background. |

Yep. The tears are starting to flow... |
All new missionaries were assigned a missionary to help them with their luggage and to get them where they needed to be. |
And there he goes...
We spent some time on Temple Square and at City Creek, a brand new beautiful shopping center across the street from Temple Square. We actually just walked through City Creek; we really weren't in a shopping mood.
Then we flew home Thursday morning.
It is a bit strange being home without Parker, but he's where he needs to be and doing what he needs to do.
And we wouldn't want him to be anywhere else or doing anything else.
