[8/9/12] One hundred and seventy-seven more days.

Yes.

There are one hundred and seventy-seven more days of school. One hundred and seventy-six if you don't count today because today has already started. And about one hundred and seventy-two (or one hundred and seventy-one) more days of early morning seminary, because they don't hold seminary during finals and we end the Friday before graduation.

Kailen started school on Monday and we were so not happy about it. We kind of had a day of mourning.  School brings with it getting up really, really early, as well as homework and not being able to stay up late. We do not like to get up early and we like to stay up late. And homework. Who likes homework?!

Yesterday was the first day of seminary, so we had a 5 a.m. wake up alarm. 5 a.m. is really, really early. But we're thankful Kailen gets to go to seminary, because her opportunity to immerse herself in the scriptures and feel the Spirit first thing every school day morning is so worth the really, really early wake up time. It really is.

It was so nice only having one set of first-day-of-school paperwork to complete on Monday.  So nice. And Kailen had already filled out everything for me so all I had to do was sign my name.  That was also so very nice.  I remember when all four kids were in school and by the time they got home from school that first day I had literally a large stack of paperwork to read, complete, and sign. I just loved reading, completing and signing all that paperwork. Not. Sometimes they all had some of the same forms so I'd just make a photocopy. That was nice.

I was up really late Tuesday night, until about 1 a.m. to be exact, with Kam watching the Olympics. Kailen wanted to watch something else so Kam and I were watching on my bed. I had already read the spoilers because I hadn't planned on staying up to watch the gymnastics event finals since I was going to get up at 5 a.m. with Kailen. Kam, however, had not read any of the spoilers so it was so fun to watch her get all nervous during the event finals. She really got into it. And even though it was really late, I know she'll be leaving to go back to school in a few weeks and I won't have the opportunity to spend this time with her.  So it was worth only getting four hours of sleep. So worth it.

While we were watching the Olympics Kam was cute-ifying a couple of Kailen's school binders for her. She has already cute-ified her own binders to take to BYU-Idaho, and they turned out really cute! And now Kailen surely has the cutest binders in school. I didn't take a picture of them last night because it was, ummm, 1 a.m., and this is the only one Kailen brought home today (how many times can you use some form of "cute" in one paragraph? Evidently four seems to be a good number):

She is so my daughter. See her schedule written on the index card in the corner? That is so something I'm confident I did when I was in school. She had to take a personality test yesterday in one of her classes and we were talking about the results on the way to our Young Womens activity last night. Yes. She is so my daughter. It was funny.

Really funny.

Maybe that's why we "get" each other so well!

One hundred and seventy-seven-six more days.
