Last night John and I went on our first date PH (post hysterectomy).
Since Kam and Parker have been driving our cars to work each day (I'm not back to driving until tomorrow), we started the night by going to the office so we could copy and then scan John's receipts for his personal reimbursement for May, which need to be at the corporate office by Wednesday. He does rack up some pretty nice points on his credit card, and I love it when he accumulates enough to cash them in.
It's a pretty sweet deal.
Then we went to the bank to deposit Parker's first paycheck (we haven't opened his checking account yet, that's on next Saturday's list of things to do), and then withdrew the cash for his first paycheck for him.
He is so excited for his next paycheck as this first one only had two day's worth of work on it. But this next one will be pretty big by 18-year-old standards.
Since it was an even-numbered day, I got to pick where we went to eat. For years John and I have been doing the even/odd thing, so if it's an even-numbered day, I say our nightly couple prayer, and if it's a date night, I pick where we go to eat or what we do. Same goes if it's an odd-numbered day: John says our nightly couple prayer and/or picks what we do on date night. We switch every year. It's a system that works really well for us. I chose to go to Chipotle to get carry-out since sitting in a regular position for any length of time is still not comfortable for me. Now if I could take my recliner or couch with me everywhere I'd be good to go. :o)
We brought our Chipotle home to eat and it was so good. I got my usual salad with barbacoa on it. We also got an order of chips and salsa, but the chips didn't have their usual lime salt on them.
Rats.
Then John and Parker took Penelope (our green mini-van) over to our local Goodyear because she needs an oil change and she's burning oil somewhere. I am so praying that this burning oil thing isn't something big (read: expensive), because Penelope is getting on in years (she's a 1998) and I'm not sure how much more $$ we're willing to spend on her. But we do need her to last at least through the summer as both Parker and Kam have jobs. Otherwise we'll/I'll be taking them both to work and picking them up every day. All. summer. Which I will do, but would rather not have to do.
Then John went to Kroger and got my favorite Lite Death by Chocolate ice cream. And it was soooo good!
Then we watched a movie for awhile in the family room until John started falling asleep. So he went up to bed. That was the end of our first date night PH. I know it wasn't one of our most exciting dates, but it was good to just be out alone for awhile. And at this point, we take what we can get, knowing things will get back to "normal" again.
Then Kam and I watched The Help. Well, she watched it. I kind of dozed off and on through it. But I did wake up for the best parts at the end.
I love that movie.
All in all, it was a fun night! :o)
