[6/12/12] First blog book. Ordered.

Making my 2011 blog posts into a book was on my list of things to do while resting.

I decided to tackle this project today.

I first tried blurb, which is a site several friends recommended.

Blurb and I didn't get along too well.  It would have taken hours and hours (and hours and hours...) of editing to get the book to where I wanted it, and then it still wouldn't look like my blog. As in the pictures being placed with their text. I thought it all looked confusing and it's my blog. :o)

I wanted simplicity.

So I left blurb.

I googled "turn blog into book" and was led to blogspot.sharedbook.com.

I downloaded my blog into their trial, and was very pleased with what I saw.

No. You can't go into individual posts and make changes.

No. You can't change the layout in each page.

But I'm okay with both of those issues because sharedbook has an option to print your blog with the same layout as is on your blog.

And that's what I wanted in the first place.

Now, some of the captions didn't get printed right under their picture due to how things fit onto pages.

I'm okay with that.

And some of the paragraphs are single spaced while other paragraphs are double spaced. That does bother me a bit, but I've also noticed that this happens when I'm posting on my blog and I have to go in and monkey around a bit with the spacing to get it to look right, so I'm not sure there's much I can do about that issue in my book.

And I'm trying to be okay with that.

I'm just trying to remember the goal behind turning each year's posts into a book:

To have a hard (well, actually a soft cover), bound copy of my life.

And since my life isn't perfect, why should my blog book be perfect?

Right?

:o)
