This past Friday was John's 20th Anniversary of the day he started working for Varsity. They did a little write-up about him on the Varsity website:
Today marks 20 years of service at Varsity for John Kelley, VP Eastern Region.
John joined Varsity in 1992, hired to be an Area Manager by John Giddings. At that time, John Kelley was based in Atlanta. He was later promoted to District Manager and eventually made the move to oversee the operations in Phoenix. John was next promoted to be Regional Manager and VP, and in 2010, John found himself headed back to Atlanta to lead what is now the Eastern Region.
John, thank you for your dedication to Varsity! Congratulations on reaching this milestone!

I will not post the picture they posted of him from 1993. He wasn't too thrilled with the picture choice.
During these last twenty years we've:
-Had two additional children
-Moved seven times
-Worked a lot of hours (he's had many 100+ hour weeks)
-Worked together as manager and admin
-Taken some fun "work" trips
-Owned four homes
-Moved three times in less than 1 year for John to start up and manage new accounts (that was a fun year)
-Learned how to be really efficient movers (see above)
-Met some really great people, both at work and where we've lived
-Learned a lot
-Had some "interesting" experiences
-Employed three of our kids (Kailen will surely be next)
-And other stuff that I can't remember at the moment...
Varsity has been a great company to work for. They have a family and service oriented culture that has kept us with them when the temptation to jump ship has come along. They try really hard to treat their employees fairly and always are interested in the person and the family, not just the job and the bottom line.
Congratulations, honey, on this milestone, and for all your hours/days/
weeks/months/years of working so hard to support our family!
**Thank you to Kailen for this post. I've been thinking and thinking and thinking about a memory to write about today, and when I told her "I have no clue what to write about," she said, "Write about Dad's 20 years with Varsity."
Smart girl, I tell ya'.
