I taught nutrition classes at a ladies' gym for a couple of years when we lived in Arizona. Since most of the ladies in the class were trying to lose weight, I put together some helpful hints to help them accomplish their goals. These hints also apply to maintaining your weight, and to simply being healthy.
They're one-size-fits-all:
My favorite one is "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail." That one applies to lots of things in life.
