[2/13/12] Monday Memories: Valentine's Day Getaway

John has been working a ton of hours lately, in addition to all his travelling.  He's been bidding on a lot of new work.

Which is a good thing.

He's doing two presentations this week in Richmond, Virginia, and Kansas City, Missouri, because we're finalists on some pretty big bids.

Which is also a good thing. Especially in today's economy.

So we really can't complain. The opposite would not be a good thing.

Plus, he has one new customer who keeps changing how they want to be invoiced, so he's re-done their invoice for over 300 buildings several times.

Not really a good thing.

I knew he needed a break.

And the only way for him to get a true break is to take him away.

So I made a reservation at our new favorite little getaway spot - Cornelia, Georgia.  We first visited Cornelia and Helen for his birthday. You can read about that trip here. It's about an hour away, the hotel is really nice, and the people are just the nicest people you'll ever meet.

And since one of the perks of all his travelling is the accumulation of Hampton points, we get to use those. It's a sweet deal, especially since this hotel only uses 7,500 points per night. Most hotels use 25,000-30,000 per night.

Yes, it's a sweet deal.

We left Friday night after he got home from work, checked into our hotel, and promptly, as fast as we could, drove over to our new favorite steakhouse, Ribeyes. We ate there on our first trip back in December.

Ribeyes is a family-owned-and-operated establishment, and they are just so friendly! And the food is awesome!  I've been thinking about their cheesy garlic biscuits since I made our hotel reservation.

These biscuits are ah-may-zing! You can't really tell from the picture, but the bottom looks like a muffin. Then the rest is just sprawled out all over.

They are awesomely yummy!

And since John is watching his carb intake (he's lost 15 pounds already this year!), he gave me his biscuit after taking a small bite. We ended up bringing some of our food back to the hotel because we just couldn't eat it all.

We got to sleep in a bit the next morning, ate breakfast at the hotel (yummy breakfast!), and headed home.

It was a short getaway, but just what he needed.

And we're already looking forward to going back!
