I never really thought about our language having a history. This book was really interesting and very reader-friendly. We also got to watch the accompanying History Channel series. I quite enjoyed both!
I spent a lot of time with this book this semester. A whole lot. More hours than I can count. Do you see all the tabs? I would've gone loony without all these tabs. I must say, that whenever I see a sentence, I start to diagram it in my head. Not sure what that's sayin'...
We got to do some editing most every week, which was actually kind of fun. Don't judge.
We also got to do 22 different grammar worksheets - 2 per week. I was thankful I made a template in week 1 because I used that same template every week. We had to gear our worksheets toward a 7th grade level. I will say, as much as this assignment was a pain some weeks, there's no better way to learn a concept than by putting it in a format that teaches someone else that concept.
This is my study buddy, Abby. She loves to sit on a chair by me while I do my schoolwork. She likes to look out the window, and when she falls asleep, she sometimes snores. That makes me smile. And anytime you can smile while studying, that is a good thing. She sits on my left side so I can pet her while studying, which can be very soothing and stress-relieving.
When I sit on the couch to watch videos, Abby will jump up by me and paw my laptop until I move it so she can sit on my lap.
As you have probably deduced, Abby leads a very rough life!
Even though this was a tough class, I learned so much that will help me with my writing.
Which will come in very handy for next semester's "ENG 214: Advanced Research and Literary Analysis" class, where the syllabus says I'll get to write 32-40 pages. woo.hoo.
Better stock up on the chocolate.
Now.
