[11/14/11] Monday Memories: My Dad

Today is my dad's birthday. My dad is amazing! He was born in the Mormon colonies in Northern Mexico under very humble circumstances. My grandpa was sick for most of my dad's life, so my grandma was pretty much the sole provider for seven kids, of which my dad is the youngest. My dad learned how to work hard at a very early age, and he has worked hard his entire life.

He spent his working career with the Boy Scouts of America. He loves Scouting and still volunteers some with the local scout council. My dad had wanted to go into Botany, so he's a great person to take on a hike. He can tell you about all the plants and even most of the animals.

All of my favorite guys at Zach's Eagle Scout Ceremony in 2006.
Zach was 17 and Parker was 12.

He was so excited when we gave him two grandsons, and he'd help them with scouting stuff whenever he came to visit.

My dad has always been an example to me of what a follower of Christ should be like. He has never wavered in doing what he knows is right, and he has always shown what he believes through his actions.

My dad doesn't like to sit still. We have a joke around our house that when my dad's coming to visit, we better have a to-do list for him. He loves to help us by doing things around our house, which we totally love!

My dad is also very humble and a little on the emotional side. He is soft-spoken and very loving. He gives great hugs!

My dad has influenced numberless young men through his association with the Boy Scouts. Whenever anyone hears that he's my dad, they always have wonderful things to say about him.

Happy Birthday, Dad! I love you! :o)
