This is what I've been doing a lot of lately:
And I actually kinda' like it.
It's like putting a puzzle together, and I really like putting puzzles together.
I'm a visual person, so diagramming sentences is right up my alley.
I've also been learning a lot about the history of the English language. I thought this textbook we're reading would be (yawn) boring, but it's so not. I never knew the Bible had such an important part in the survival of English, or that so many people died to preserve our language.
It's been very interesting.
I thought I really wouldn't like this ENG 325 Language Theory - Grammar/Usage class. But I so do. Although when we had to diagram eight one (81!) sentences a couple of weeks ago, I thought that was a bit much.
This week we're learning how to diagram compound sentences, and it gets a bit crazy. For sentence diagramming, that is. There are branches and dotted lines going everywhere.
And I'm really having fun.
Please don't think I'm strange....
