[8/4/11] Another New Season

This morning I took Kailen to her high school orientation. Yes, it's true. My "baby" (or "caboose," as she calls herself) will begin high school on Monday. She is so ready. I am so not.

And since Kailen is a Freshman, that means Parker is a Senior. That's the way we carefully accidentally planned things in our family, so we've always had a Freshman and a Senior. Which has worked out quite nicely. The Senior can make sure that the Freshman doesn't get eternally lost in the big new high school and can also make sure that the transition to high school hopefully goes a little bit smoother for the Freshman. At least that's been my perspective. I guess we shall see.

Parker is so ready to finally be a Senior. I am so not. (There seems to be a trend forming here). He'll be going away to college in a year and then on a mission right after that first year. Parker's high school season has flown by so quickly, which is a bit scary since I'm sure the same will be true for Kailen's.

And then we'll be empty-nesters. 

Another new season in life. :o)
