[6/14/11] A New Season

For the past three school years I've taught Early Morning Seminary to some amazing young people aged 14-18. I capitalized "Early Morning" because it's held very early in the morning. Before school. Before the sun comes up most days. Before the birds start singing. It means a 4:30-4:45 am alarm. Five days a week. Thus, I think it deserves the capitalization.

Anyway, this teaching calling, as we call our responsibilities in our church, has been the best one of my life. Yes it was hard to prepare a spiritually uplifting and interesting lesson Monday-Friday of every week, but the blessings I've received from serving in this way have immensely outnumbered the extreme tiredness and every-once-in-awhile stress I've felt. By a bazillion to one. It's been an awesome experience to watch the light bulbs go off as these kids "get it." It's been fun to laugh, cry and share with them. They have truly been a huge blessing in my life.

My new calling - a new season in my life of many seasons - is to serve with the Young Women in our ward (church congregation). I will be with all of them, but specifically with the 14-15 year olds. Which means I'll be with Kailen for another year-and-a-half and I'm really excited about that. I'll also still get to be with my seminary girls, which I'm also really excited about.

As hard as changing seasons can be, I know that there's a "time to every purpose under the heavens." And I'm excited to see what this season holds for me! :o)
